Al Taawoun sign Brazilian goalkeeper Cassio Anjos
Brazilian goalkeeper Cassio Anjos officially joined Saudi club Al Taawoun for one season coming from Portuguese side Rio Ave.
Cassio Anjos is expected to replace Egypt’s legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary who joined the club in June 2017.
El-Hadary is yet to announce his future plans following Egypt’s participation in the World Cup, where he is expected to become the oldest player to appear at the most prestigious football tournament.
The former Rio Ave goalkeeper started his career in Brazil at Olaria Atletico Clube before he moved to Portugal in 2008 to play for FC Pacos de Ferreira. Cassio stayed in Portugal afterward to play for SC Braga, FC Arouca and finally Rio Ave.
Al Taawoun recently managed to sign Portuguese manager Pedro Emanuel on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year to lead the first team to succeed his fellow Portuguese coach Jose Manuel Gomez who had lasted for one year.
