Amr Gamal sends message of support to Pharaohs ahead of World Cup
The 26-year-old was left out of Hector Cuper’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup, despite playing five qualifiers, including the decisive fixture against Uganda.
Gamal is currently on loan at Finland’s HJK Helsinki from Al Ahly, making 13 appearances for the Finnish giants, but is yet to score for them.
“My friends, brothers, and the men of the national team. God willing, you will complete what we started together and achieve success in the World Cup,” Gamal told FIFA.com.
“Full support from all of us. Good luck for you and for all the Arab teams,” he added.
Gamal has won 19 international caps for Egypt, making his debut against Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2014. He has scored three international goals against each of Kenya, Botswana, and Burkina Faso.
Egypt were drawn in group A alongside hosts Russia, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia. They will kick off their campaign against the South American side on June 15, before facing Russia and Saudi Arabia respectively.
