Godin: Uruguay are focused on Egypt game

The vastly experienced defender is headed into his third World Cup, the same amount as Egypt have reached in their history. Despite his personal achievements over the years, he remains composed ahead of the opening game with Egypt.

“Although we, like the whole of the Uruguayan people, are dreaming big, the main challenge facing us is winning the game against Egypt; this is what’s most important to us and is what is on our minds”, said Godin.

The Uruguay team arrived at the airport to the sight of thousands of Uruguay fans greeting them at the airport, to which Godin added “Emotion, pride, I am really thankful to them. I do not remember a sending off like this one, it’s something really beautiful, it’s something that we have built and generated ourselves, and we must make sure we continue to feed it every day”.

Godin’s Uruguay get their tournament underway in the second game of the tournament against Egypt on June 15th at 2PM Egyptian time.
