Mohamed Salah misses Egypt’s first training session in Russia
Mohamed Salah missed Egypt’s first training session in Russia, which was held few hours after arriving in Grozny, the capital of Chechenia.
The Egyptian delegation arrived in Grozny, Egypt’s base for the World Cup, on Sunday afternoon, five days ahead of their first World Cup game against Uruguay.
The Pharaohs held an open training session few hours after their arrival, which was attended by thousands of fans as well as Chechen Republic president Ramzan Kadyrov, according to a statement by the Egyptian Football Association.
Although Salah, who is still recovering from injury, didn’t take part in the training session, he was cheered on by the fans who attended.
Egypt, who will be making their first World Cup appearance in 28 years, will kick off their World Cup group stage campaign against Uruguay at the Ekaterinburg Arena on June 15. They will play against hosts Russia at the Saint Petersburg Stadium four days later and will face Saudi Arabia in their final group game at the Volgograd Arena on June 25.
