Egypt: Salah’s participation against Uruguay remains uncertain

The Egyptian national team director Ehab Leheita revealed that Mohamed Salah’s participation in Egypt’s World Cup opening match against Uruguay has not been confirmed yet.

In Monday’s post-training interview, Leheita commented on Salah’s progress saying, “Salah has a strong program in the gym before taking part in the team’s second training in Grozny. He also performs light running exercises around the stadium.”

“The treatment program is going well and the player’s stance will be determined shortly before the Uruguay match.”

Leheita praised the choice of the city of Grozny, the capital of Chechnya for the team’s residence and training camp, “The players are very happy with the city and its people who came to support the team in their first training and things are going well in preparation for the first game”

In regards to Russia’s coach taunt on the Egyptian national team which was circulated on social media, Leheita said, “The Pharaohs have taken one approach the past three years, which is focusing on their work without responding to side comments. The coach’s statements cannot be answered in any way, and what matters is to prepare well for the first game.”

The Pharaohs will face Uruguay in their opening match, which will be played on Friday, 15th of June.
