OFFICIAL: Ramadan Sobhi joins Huddersfield Town from Stoke City
Egypt international winger Ramadan Sobhi will join Huddersfield Town from relegated Stoke City following the conclusion of the World Cup, the Premier League side announced.
The 21-year-old, who is part of Egypt’s squad for the 2018 World Cup, will join Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal, with the club having the option of a further season. However, Stoke City announced that the deal was worth £5.7 million.
The Egyptian Football Association confirmed earlier in June that the player was allowed to leave the Pharaohs’ pre-World Cup training camp to undergo a pre-transfer medical test at Huddersfield Town.
Sobhi started his career in England in 2016 after he grabbed the attention of Stoke City’s former manager Mark Hughes when he was only 19 years old. Since joining Stoke City from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Sobhi made 41 Premier League appearances.
Following the relegation of the Potters to the English Championship after finishing 19th in the league, Sobhi started to look through the offers he received from top-tier outfits, and now he will be representing Huddersfield Town.
Sobhi will now be focusing on earning a starting spot in Hector Cuper’s starting line up for the 2018 World Cup where Egypt will be facing Uruguay, Russia and Saudi Arabia in Group A.
