Tabarez: Uruguay have a good chance to beat Egypt
The veteran coach is leading his country into a World Cup for the fourth time over two separate spells, with the first being all the way back in 1990 as La Celeste reached the round of 16. With all of his and his squad’s experience under their belts, he 71 year old is confident ahead of the opening game against Egypt.
“I think that we are in good form… All matches in the world are full of surprises, especially at the World Cup. We have great respect for Egypt. Of course they can defeat us, but we have a good chance to win,” said Tabarez.
He went on to speak about Salah’s injury, adding, “We have played against the likes of Messi, Neymar and others. If Salah plays we will just have to control his many strengths. I would be happy if Salah could play. In a dream match, for him to suffer that injury is sad. I don’t know about his recovery as it was in the United Kingdom. It’s a private matter. We haven’t planned a strategy whether he is on the pitch or not.”
Tabarez will lead his side into action tomorrow afternoon at 2PM Egyptian time with Russia’s 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the back of their minds.
