Hector Cuper ‘optimistic’ ahead of Uruguay clash
Egypt coach Hector Cuper said he’s optimistic ahead of Egypt’s opening game against Uruguay on Friday afternoon in the 2018 World Cup.
The Pharaohs will make their first World Cup appearance in 28 years on Friday, when they face Uruguay in their first Group A game at the Ekaterinburg Arena. Russia currently top the group after they earned a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the tournament’s opener on Thursday.

“Everything is positive ahead of this clash. Now, we have to enjoy what we will be doing,” Cuper told beIN Sports satellite channel ahead of the clash.
“I’m optimistic about the game and about our ability to put in a good performance against Uruguay and achieve victory.
“We haven’t qualified to the World Cup for a long time. Everyone understands the importance of the participation,” he added.
Egypt will play their second group game against Russia on June 19, before playing their last game against Saudi Arabia six days later.
