RELIVE: Egypt vs Uruguay – 2018 World Cup

KingFut covers all the action as Egypt face in their first Group A game at the on Friday afternoon.

The Pharaohs will be making their first World Cup appearance in 28 years as they face Uruguay at the Ekaterinburg Arena. Russia currently top the group after they earned a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the tournament’s opener on Thursday.

Egypt coach announced earlier on Friday the Pharaohs’ squad for the game, with Mohamed El-Shennawy and Amr Warda being included in the starting line-up instead of Essam El-Hadary and Mohamed Salah.

The Pharaohs will play their second group game against Russia on June 19, before playing their last game against Saudi Arabia six days later.

Egypt XI: El Shennawy, Fathi, Gabr, Hegazy, Abdelshafy, Elneny, Hamed, Warda, El Said, Trezeguet, Mohsen.

Uruguay XI: Muslera, Varela, Gimenez, Godin, Caceres, Vecino, Bentacur, Nandez, Arrascaeta, Suarez, Cavani.

90′: The fourth official signals for five added minutes.

90′: GOAL! Uruguay break the deadlock with a towering header from Jose Maria Gimenez from a set piece on the right hand side. Egypt 0-1 Uruguay.

88′: Cavani strikes the post from the free kick and the rebound falls to Caceres but his shot is inadvertently blocked by his own teammate Sanchez.

88′: Lucas Torreira replaces Matias Vecino.

87′: Cavani is clipped by Fathi at the edge of the box and wins a free kick in a dangerous position.

83′: Cavani’s outrageous volley from outside the box is met by a an even better save by El Shennawy who dives across his goal to the right to send it out for a corner, which culminates in nothing.

81′: Elneny attempts a delicate chip from the edge of the box however it sails over the crossbar by around a yard.

79′: The swashbuckling nature of the game continues as Egypt create another counter attack but Kahraba’s cross does not find Amr Warda.

77′: Uruguay almost catch Egypt on a counter attack but Sanchez’s pass is too heavy to find Godin’s marauding run.

73′: Cavani plays in Luis Suarez who attempts to take the ball around El Shennawy but the Al Ahly man is equal to it and reads the turn.

72′: A swift counter attack leads to the ball finding Ahmed Fathi on the right wing but his powerful shot is saved by Muslera.

71′: Amr Warda creates a chance with a clever turn on Varela however his cross doesn’t match the quality of the skill.

70′: A Uruguay corner leads to a goalmouth scramble in the box however any potential attack was shut down by a Caceres handball.

67′: Kahraba’s low driven cross from the right wing is cut out by the stubborn Uruguay defence.

63′: Kahraba replaces Marwan Mohsen.

58′: Carlos Sanchez and Cristian Rodriguez replace Nahitan Nandez and Giorgian De Arrascaeta

56′: Trezeguet attempts an ambitious half volley from distance but drags it far wide.

52′: Trezeguet breaks through on the counter however his pass is cut out by Diego Godin. Another wave of attack comes from the resultant throw in however nothing comes of it.

50′; Tarek Hamed is replaced by Sam Morsy.

49′: Tarek Hamed goes down with injury, not for the first time this game, and is being replaced imminently.

46′: El Shennawy produces a stunning save with his knee on Luis Suarez from close range early in the second half.

45′: The second half begins.

Half Time: Egypt 0-0 Uruguay.

43′: Ahmed Fathi had two opportunities to create from the right wing however one cross was underhit while the other was overhit.

40′: Amr Warda attempts to play the ball with an overhead kick but lands heavily on his back and appears to have picked up an injury.

37′: Uruguay attack Egypt down the right wing once again but the ball is recovered by El Shennawy.

31′: Tarek Hamed gives away a dangerous free kick just outside the box.

29′: Vecino attempts an ambitious shot from distance but drags it wide.

26′: Warda creates another chance after beating Caceres with some excellent footwork however Mohsen’s shot goes too centrally.

24′: Suarez thought he had broken the deadlock from a corner however the ball went into the side netting and created an illusion.

15′; Warda wins a dangerous free kick around 25 yards out after being hauled down by Bentancur.

14′: Uruguay create a chance on the right wing with the cross finding Luis Suarez who scuffs his shot wide.

12′: Amr Warda’s cross into the box creates a pinball situation with the ball eventually falling to Trezeguet however his shot is too tame to beat Muslera.

8′: Cavani has the first shot of the game with a right footed strike after cutting on from the left, but it is saved by El Shennawy.

3′: Cavani goes down from a heavy challenge by Tarek Hamed.

0′: Kickoff.
