EFA: Tarek Hamed is ready for Russia clash
In the opening minutes of the second half in Egypt’s first World Cup in 28 years against Uruguay, the Zamalek midfielder was replaced by Sam Morsy due to a back injury. However, the EFA has announced that Tarek Hamed will be ready for the match against Russia.
“Tarek Hamed suffered a back bruise, but X-rays are not needed and he will be ready to face Russia, God Willing,” EFA posted on their social media accounts.
The EFA also gave an update on Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah who did not feature in the 1-0 loss despite head coach Héctor Cúper ensuring he was ready on Thursday.
“According to Cúper, Salah will play against Russia and he didn’t feature today so as to not risk him,” they added.
Egypt will return to group stage play on June 19 when they face hosts Russia. The Pharaohs will close out the group stage against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia on June 25. They currently sit in third place after the first match-day, with Russia in first place, Uruguay in second place, and Saudi Arabia in fourth.
