Mahmoud Trezeguet: We fought till the end against Uruguay
Mahmoud Trezeguet has assured fans that he will be fit for the Russia game after slightly limping during Egypt’s loss to Uruguay.
In the dying minutes of Egypt’s World Cup opener, Gimenez rose above all the Pharaoh defenders and scored the winning goal to give Uruguay the three points.
Kasimpasa winger Trezeguet spoke after the game, revealing Hector Cuper’s message to the players as well as assuring the fans that he is fit for the upcoming game.
“We were men against Uruguay and fought till the end, but we conceded in the dying minutes,” Trezeguet said.
“After the game, Hector Cuper told us to keep our heads up because we played a big game.
“There are two games remaining, which we will try to do our best in them.
“I am fit and ready for the next game against Russia,” he added.
Egypt are currently third in group A behind Russia and Uruguay, with their next game taking place against the hosts on Tuesday, June 19.
