Alessandro Del Piero: Mohamed Salah is Player of the Year
Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero has hailed Mohamed Salah, saying the Egyptian is the player of the year after Ronaldo and Messi.
The Egyptian had an outstanding debut season with Liverpool, scoring 44 goals and assisting 16 times in 52 games across all competitions, leading Liverpool to a top-four finish as well as the UEFA Champions League final.
He was named in the World Cup squad despite his shoulder injury, however, he didn’t feature against Uruguay, as the Pharaohs suffered a 1-0 late defeat.
“What to say again about Momo Salah. Player of the year!” Del Piero wrote on his official Twitter account.
“His UCL final injury has hurt all those who love football. This year after Cristiano and Messi I put him as player of the year. What do you say?”
Cosa dire ancora di Momo Salah.
Giocatore dell’anno! Il suo infortunio nella #UCLfinal ha fatto soffrire tutti quelli che amano il calcio. Quest’anno dopo @Cristiano e #Messi ci metto lui. Che ne dite? #ADP10 #WorldCup #EGYURU pic.twitter.com/24mGUGKOOl

The Liverpool winger is expected to feature against Russia in the World Cup as the Pharaohs must at least pick up a point to keep their qualification hopes alive.
