Cheryshev: Egypt will be difficult, Salah one of best players in the world
The former Real Madrid winger scored a brace in Russia’s 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia, after replacing injured Alan Dzagoev midway through the first half.
Cheryshev is expected to start against Egypt, with the hosts eyeing the three points to earn a place in the second round of the World Cup.
On the other hand, the Pharaohs must pick up at least a point to keep their qualification hopes alive.
“Salah is probably not 100% ready, but we shouldn’t worry about that. We should focus on our game,” Cheryshev said.
“The next match will be difficult. Salah is one of the best players in the world, it will be a great boost for Egypt if he plays against us.
“But we must be very careful with the whole team, not just Salah,” he added.
Russia currently top the group after their 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia, while Egypt sit third behind Uruguay, who managed to snatch a late 1-0 win against the Pharaohs.
The hosts will face Egypt on Tuesday, June 19 at 20:00 CLT, three hours after Uruguay’s clash with Saudi Arabia.
