Gabulov: Egypt fights for the ball on every part of the pitch
Vladimir Gabulov believes that the Egyptian national team is very solid with warriors’ spirit for the ball on every part of the pitch.
Russia destroyed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening game of the World Cup, while Egypt suffered a 1-0 late defeat against Uruguay.
“My opinion is strictly personal, I noticed that it [Egypt] is a solid team who fights for the ball on every part of the pitch,” said Gabulov.
The 34-year-old was asked about Egypt’s goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy, who won the Man of the Match award for his performance against Uruguay.
“There are no weak goalkeepers at the World Cup. He did make a few impressive saves though,” Gabulov added.
“Egypt’s weaknesses? The most important thing is to cope with the pressure.”
Russia currently top the group after their 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia, while Egypt sit third behind Uruguay, who managed to snatch a late 1-0 win against the Pharaohs.
The hosts are set to face Egypt in Saint Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday, June 19 at 20:00 CLT in a decisive fixture for Group A.
