El-Hadary: Russia game is life or death for us

Egypt’s veteran goalkeeper, Essam El-Hadary, emphasizes the importance of Egypt‘s upcoming clash against in Group A of the 2018 World Cup.

The 45-year-old goalkeeper talked about the Pharaohs’ upcoming clash in Group A against Russia, claiming that anything but the win, would mean that the Egyptians will not be able to advance to the second round.

On becoming the oldest player ever to participate at the World Cup, El-Hadary stated, “I do not care about individual titles. I am just happy here with the national team and participate in the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.”

Russia currently top the group after their 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia, while Egypt sit third behind Uruguay, who managed to snatch a late 1-0 win against the Pharaohs.

The hosts will face Egypt on Tuesday, June 19 at 20:00 CLT, at the Saint Petersburg arena a day before Uruguay’s clash with Saudi Arabia.
