Russia midfielder Miranchuk: Egypt are similar to Saudi Arabia
The hosts are eyeing the three points to earn a place in the second round of the World Cup, while the Pharaohs must pick up at least a point to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Anton Miranchuk stayed on the bench the entire game as Russia thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in their opening game.
The Lokomotiv Moscow player thinks Egypt’s style of play is similar to the Asian side, but the Pharaohs are better in the defence area.
“[Egypt’s] match against Uruguay was very difficult… They can play well in defense. They [Egypt] are similar to Saudi Arabia, but are more organized and disciplined,” Miranchuk said.
“Matches with Salah and without him differ a lot, of course. But there are 11 footballers on the field, not one,” the 22-year-old midfielder added.
Russia currently top the group, while Egypt sit third behind Uruguay, who managed to snatch a late 1-0 win against the Pharaohs.
The hosts will face Egypt on Tuesday, June 19 at 20:00 CLT, a day before Uruguay’s clash with Saudi Arabia.
