goalkeeper and captain has revealed that his side shouldn’t focus solely on Mohamed Salah ahead of their encounter on Tuesday.

The hosts are eyeing the three points to earn a place in the second round of the World Cup, while the Pharaohs will search for their first ever win in the tournament.

Russia currently top the group after their 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia, while  sit third behind Uruguay, who managed to snatch a late 1-0 win against the Pharaohs.

Mohamed Salah will return to international action, having missed their last five games, with his last appearance for the Pharaohs coming against Portugal last March.

Team captain Akinfeev said his side should not single out Mohamed Salah, as the Egyptian national team have more than another 20 players.

“First of all I will tell you about my team. I believe we should pay more attention to the Russian team. We have our own tasks, our own missions and so on,” Akinfeev said.

“We know there will not be mannequins against us. These will be living beings. It is not only Mo Salah who will be playing against us. They have another 20-plus players. We will see what will happen,” he added.

Akinfeev replied to whether if he was looking forward to playing against the Liverpool winger, saying: “I don’t even know how to start preparing how to respond to your question, frankly.

“I would prefer that my team win tomorrow, that’s my response,” he concluded.
