Mohamed Elneny: We have no option other than to win
Elneny assured the fans on Monday that the team is focused and confident ahead of the tie against the hosts and they will approach the game with an offensive mentality after the instructions of head coach Hector Cuper.
“We realise that this will be a very tough game against the host nation supported by thousands of fans. We are well aware of that, but we have no option other than to win, which means we need to keep calm and focused,” Elneny told FIFA’s official website.
“That is coach Hector Cuper’s plan. He always instructs me and other players to help buildup in the attack and move forward to support our colleagues.”
“In the match against Russia, we will give our all because we want to stay here for as long as we can. To play in the World Cup and experience this atmosphere is a dream you hope will never end.”
The 25-year-old and his teammates have sent Egypt to the first World Cup since 1990 and they will be hoping to secure the country’s first qualification to the next round this week.
