Rubin Kazan head coach: We will beat Egypt
Russian side Rubin Kazan’s head coach Kurban Berdyev has expressed his confidence in Russia’s ability to seal victory over the Pharaohs in the second game of the group stage.
The hosts kicked off the World Cup with a big 5-0 victory against Saudi Arabia, and will be looking to book their place in the next round when they face the Pharaohs, who suffered a last-gasp defeat against Uruguay.
“The one who scores first will win. The odds are about 60 to 40 in Russia’s favor,” Berdyev said in an interview with Russian newspaper Business Online.
Berdyev believes that the key to victory is to keep Salah away from causing any problems, believing that the way the Russians deal with him will shape their chances.
“A lot will depend on how well we deal with Salah. If we decide how to deter him and manage to do so, then we’ll get past the group stage.
“In the moments like when Egypt players were trying to pick out someone to pass the ball to in Uruguay’s penalty area, Salah won’t try to pick out anyone, he’ll score by himself,” Berdyev added.
