have been knocked out of the World Cup alongside after the Asian side’s 1-0 loss to on Wednesday.

A first-half strike from Luis Suarez earned Uruguay the three points and helped them qualify for the round of 16 alongside hosts .

Egypt and Saudi Arabia became the second and third teams to be eliminated from the World Cup after fellow Arab country Morocco, who lost to Portugal on Wednesday morning.

The Pharaohs had a slim chance of qualifying for the round of 16 as they would have gone through had Uruguay lost to Saudi Arabia and Russia, and Egypt beat Saudi Arabia in the final group game.

However, Uruguay’s narrow win against Saudi Arabia put them through alongside Russia, as they both sit top with six points, but Russia are ahead on goal difference.

The final round of group A will take place on Monday, June 25, and will see Egypt face Saudi Arabia for the third place, while Uruguay and Russia will battle for the top spot.
