Omar Gaber injury doubt for Saudi Arabia game

Los Angeles FC right back has picked up a groin injury and as a result is a doubt for the final group game against .

In the opening two group games against Uruguay and Russia, Hector Cuper opted for a more experienced option at right back with Ahmed Fathi not only being first choice in that position but also being the captain for both games.

However, having been knocked out with a game to spare there is a chance that Cuper rotates the squad in order to give more fringe players a chance to prove their worth. One of those first in line would have been Omar Gaber who has played under Cuper several times in the past, as well as being in good form for Los Angeles.

However that appears to be in doubt as Gaber picked up a groin injury in training with his return date currently unknown, and with the match just four days away this will prove to be a real worry for the former Zamalek and Basel man.

Should Gaber play it will be just his second tournament appearance having only previously come on as a sub and played a quarter of an hour against Burkina Faso in the Africa Cup of Nations semi final which won on penalties.

With or without Gaber, Egypt take on Saudi Arabia on Monday June 25th at 4PM Egyptian time in their final game, with the other final game between Russia and Uruguay taking place simultaneously.
