Ahmed Saad wins two gold medals in weightlifting events in Tarragona

won two gold medals in the snatch and clean & jerk events in the 62kg men’s category at the Mediterranean Games.

Saad began the Mediterranean Games with the snatch. On his first try he lifted 124 kg and was in first place. The 31-year-old went on to lift 127 kg and remained in first place. He did not complete his third try after he was still in first place after all the other participants had gone.

In the clean & jerk, Saad did similarly well after going into first place after the first try where he lifted 155 kg. In the second try, the Egyptian lifted 157 kg and did not complete his third try after he was still in first place after all the other participants had completed it.

Ahmed Saad also represented at last year’s World Weightlifting Championships where he finished in 11th place and seventh place in the snatch and clean & jerk respectively. He also participated in the 2016 Olympics where he finished in fifth place and seventh place in the snatch and clean & jerk respectively.

In addition to being a football/soccer and basketball enthusiast, I am currently pursuing a combined BS/MD degree at VCU. I also currently work as a Pharmacy Technician in my spare time.
