Heba Ahmed wins Egypt’s ninth medal at 2018 Mediterranean Games
Heba Ahmed began the Games in the snatch event, but finished in fourth place after she was only able to lift 71 kg behind third place Italian Alessandra Pagliaro who lifted 72 kg. In the clean & jerk, Heba lifted 91 kg on her first try, but was unable to lift 94 kg on her second try and 96 kg on her third try.
The 21-year-old’s performance awarded her the bronze medal with Turk Saziye Edogan winning the gold medal after lifting 96 kg and French Anais Michel winning the silver medal after lifting 92 kg. Before participating in Tarragona, the Egyptian won the gold medal at the 2015 Arab Championships and at the 2015 African Games.
