Sadio Mane sends support to Mohamed Salah after World Cup exit
Salah missed the Pharaohs’ first encounter due to a shoulder injury, however, he played the full 90 minutes against the hosts, scoring Egypt’s only goal in a 3-1 loss.
Mane revealed that he is still in touch with Salah after the player managed to come back from his injury, saying the Egyptian is very strong.
“I sent him a message about a week ago. I was wishing him the best,” Mane said in a press conference on Sunday.
“He’s a player who really wanted to play during this World Cup but, unfortunately, he arrived suffering from an injury.
“He’s a very strong guy, mentally, he did fight hard, he came back to help his country. Unfortunately, [Egypt] struggled, but it’s football, you have to live with it.
“I wish him all the best for the future. I think that, at the moment, of course, it is normal for him to [feel bad] but that’s football and he’s going to have to prepare for the next [game],” he added.
The final round of group A will take place on Monday, June 25, and will see Egypt face Saudi Arabia for the third place, while Uruguay and Russia will battle out for the top spot.
