Egyptian weightlifter Mohamed Ihab wins two gold medals at Mediterranean Games

Egyptian weightlifter won two gold medals at the men’s 77kg category of the .

Ihab won his first gold medal after lifting 162kg in the snatch competition. He lifted 158kg in the first attempt before successfully lifting 162kg in his second attempt. He, however, missed a 166kg snatch in his last attempt.

The 27-year-old Egyptian weightlifter, who won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, was followed by Spain’s Andres Eduardo Mata Perez and Turkey’s Celil Erdoğdu, who lifted 152kg and 142kg, respectively.

Ihab added another gold medal in the clean & jerk event after lifting 190kg. He lifted 186kg and 190kg in the first two attempts before missing a 196kg attempt. He was followed by Andres Eduardo Mata Perez and Celil Erdoğdu who lifted 189kg and 188kg.

Egypt’s Ahmed Saad earlier won two gold medals in the snatch and clean & jerk events in the 62kg men’s weightlifting category and Heba Ahmed won the bronze medal in the women’s 48 kg clean & jerk event.
