Sam Morsy: World Cup was an amazing experience
Egypt International Sam Morsy has said they gave their best in the World Cup and thanked the Egyptian fans for their support.
The Pharaohs were highly criticized following their very disappointing performances and as a consequence, the Egyptian FA decided not to extend Hector Cuper’s contract.
The Wigan Athletic skipper played a total of 40 minutes in the World Cup after he got subbed-in for Tarek Hamed during the Uruguay game.
“The World Cup what an amazing experience one I will never forget for lots of reasons. The support of the Egyptian fans was crazy, every game we played they were with us in large numbers,” Morsy posted on Twitter.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t deliver for them we gave it our best but it wasn’t good enough.
“The players gave there maximum effort but it wasn’t to be we will back as a national team whoever is in charge or playing stronger than ever inshallah thanks again for the amazing support.
“The Russian people were also amazing to us very kind and caring and made our trip easy,” he added.
The 26-year-old earned his first cap for Egypt under Cuper’s management in 2016 against Guinea, since then he played a total of six games for the national team
