EFA chairman Hany Abou-Rida responds to Hervé Renard rumors
Egypt were knocked out of the World Cup after three consecutive defeats to Uruguay, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, which left them bottom of their group.
Following the humiliation exit, the EFA decided to not renew Hector Cuper’s contract, and Morocco manager Hervé Renard emerged as a target for the Pharaohs.
“We have started looking for a new manager. We have received CVs from several managers,” Abou-Rida said.
“EFA member Hazem Emam is the one responsible for that. When we get to a shortlist, the candidates will be announced.
“Hervé Renard has a contract with the Moroccan FA, therefore we can’t talk about him. If they decided not to extend his contract, we will negotiate with him,” he added.
Former Zambia, Angola, and Ivory Coast manager Renard led Morocco in the 2018 World Cup, where the Atlas Lions impressed despite being knocked out from the group stages.
He also managed to win two Africa Cup of Nations during his time in Zambia and Ivory Coast.
