Egypt’s Radwa Elsayed Nada wins silver medal in Tarragona
Egyptian Radwa Elsayed Nada won the silver medal in the taekwondo women’s less than 57 kg event at the Mediterranean Games on Thursday.
Radwa began the competition in the quarter-finals where she beat Portugal’s Joana Cunha 6-5. In the semi-finals, the 24-year-old defeated Croatia’s Nikita Glasnovic 16-13 to move on the finals where she lost to Turkey’s Irem Yaman. Her silver medal is Egypt’s first taekwondo medal in the Mediterranean Games this year and their 10th silver medal this games.
Nada has previously represented Egypt in various competitions including winning a gold medal at the 2014 African Senior Championships. More recently, she won the silver medal in her event at the Egypt Open last February.
Egypt’s 5th place position in the medal table is also even more solidified as next placed Serbia and Greece will require six golds to overtake them, with Egypt only needing three golds to overtake France and place in 4th which would be an improvement on the 2013 showing.
