OFFICIAL: Pyramids FC sign Smouha defender Abdallah Bakri
The defender performances in the Egyptian Premier League had resulted in Egypt’s two biggest clubs, Al Ahly and Zamalek, showing interest in signing him.
Both clubs couldn’t match Smouha’s valuation and the Alexandrian side decided to loan him to Al Batin until the end of the 2018-19 season.
However, Bakri terminated his loan with the Saudi side and agreed to join Pyramids FC, becoming their latest major signing.
Bakri joined Smouha last summer from second division side Nabrouh, making 18 appearances for them and registering one assist.
He helped the team finish fifth in the Egyptian Premier League as well as reaching the Egypt Cup final, which Smouha lost on penalties against Zamalek after Barki missed his penalty.
Pyramids FC, formerly known as Assiouty Sport, was recently acquired by chairman of Saudi Sports Authority Turki Al-Sheikh.
Since the acquisition deal, the club announced the signing of a number of players including Mohamed Farouk from Arab Contractors, Brazilian duo Lucas Ribamar, Marcos da Silva França ‘Keno’ and Syria international defender Omar Midani. They also named Brazilian manager Alberto Valentim as the club’s new head coach.
