Salah promised to revisit Chechnya, says Ramzan Kadyrov
Egypt international Mohamed Salah has promised to visit Chechen Republic again, according to a statement by its leader leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
Egypt national team, who exited the 2018 World Cup at the group stage after losing their three games, were based in the Chechen Republic capital Grozny during the tournament, which was held in Russia.
During their stay, Salah was singled out for special attention and given honourary citizenship of Chechnya Republic by Kadyrov. This led to Salah being subjected to a wave of criticism as the former has been accused of human rights violations.
Kadyrov revealed the Egyptian national football team were pleased with their stay in the southern Russian region Grozny and added that Salah said he’ll revisit Chechen Republic.
“I invited him back and he said he’d surely come. The World Cup is being held now, so they don’t have time to. He said he liked it very much here, and he’d come to the republic for a few days, that’s what he said,” Kadyrov told Russian daily Izvestia.
