Pyramids FC make huge offer for Al Ahly keeper Mohamed El-Shennawy
Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC have made a huge offer to sign Al Ahly keeper Mohamed El-Shennawy on loan, the club announced on Friday.
The club announced that they submitted an offer to sign the Al Ahly keeper for $2 million. Few minutes later, the club revealed on their official Twitter account that they submitted an improved offer to sign the player on a two-year loan deal for $4 million, with El-Shennawy receiving a salary of $800,000.
El-Shennawy was part of Egypt’s squad that featured in the 2018 World Cup. He played the Pharaohs’ first two group games against Uruguay and Russia, where he conceded four goals. The last game against Saudi Arabia saw veteran keeper Essam El-Hadary between the sticks.
The 29-year-old keeper conceded 15 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions with Al Ahly last season.
The club, formerly known as Assiouty Sport, was recently acquired by chairman of Saudi Sports Authority Turki Al-Sheikh.
Since the acquisition deal, the club announced the signing of a number of players including Mohamed Farouk from Arab Contractors, Brazilian duo Lucas Ribamar, Marcos da Silva França ‘Keno’ and Syria international defender Omar Midani. They also named Brazilian manager Alberto Valentim as the club’s new head coach.
