Al Ahly will play pre season friendlies in the coming weeks against and Krasnodar FC respectively in their summer camp based in Croatia.

As they prepare for the upcoming season as well as the remainder of the 2018 CAF Champions League, Al Ahly will take part in pre season friendly matches against the Eastern European sides on July 6th and July 9th.

Olimpija Ljubljana have decent pedigree as they won last season’s Slovenian league title, despite rivals Maribor having experience in the highest level of European competition as they took part in last season’s Champions League group stage. While they lack household names, The Dragons do have former Barcelona youth player and Cameroon international Macky Bagnack as well as the veteran former Real Betis defender Branko Ilic.

Al Ahly’s other opponents, , will perhaps be a sterner test for the Red Devils as they are strong by the standards of the Russian league and have some familiar faces in Burkina Faso holding midfielder Charles Kabore, Ahmed Hassan Koka’s former Braga teammate Stanislav Kritsyuk and Ecuador international Cristian Ramirez.

Unfortunately, they will be without their two star players in Fyodor Smolov and Viktor Claesson as they are on international duty at the World Cup with Russia and Sweden respectively.

Al Ahly will use these games as preparation for their next official match in the CAF Champions League against Township Rollers in Cairo on July 17th.
