Al Ahly drop Ahmed Hamdi from pre-season squad
The Red Devils are set to travel to Croatia as part of their pre-season preparations in July, with two fixtures scheduled for Carteron’s men against Olimpija Ljubljana and Krasnodar FC on July 6th and July 9th.
Al Ahly have revealed before their pre-season squad, but today they decided to drop midfielder Ahmed Hamdi for not following the manager’s instructions, according to the club’s official website.
The 20-year-old was part of the squad that won the league title last season, featuring in nine games only across all competitions.
He was on the verge of a move to Udinese last summer after the Red Castle had initially accepted an offer from the Italian side to sign the midfielder on a season-long loan with an option to buy, but failed to agree a deal.
Al Ahly will use these games as preparation for their next official match in the CAF Champions League against Township Rollers in Cairo on July 17th.
They are currently bottom of their group with only one point, three behind leaders Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
