After qualifying to the second round, were placed in Group E in the second round of the qualifiers.

Despite losing their first two games against DR Congo and Angola in this international period, Egypt came back to beat Morocco 59-53 on the final day to qualify to the second round. Since the Pharaohs finished in second place they were automatically placed in Group E alongside Tunisia, Cameroon, Chad, Morocco, and Angola.

Meanwhile, Group F consists of Nigeria, Rwanda, Mali, Senegal, Central African Republic, and Côte d’Ivoire. The second round will begin in September 2018 and will end in February 2019. The games will be split into three international periods with Group E playing their games in the September and November/December periods and Group F playing their games in the September and February periods.

The results from the first round followed the teams into the second round and will contribute to their final placing. As a result, Egypt currently sits in fourth place in Group E with nine points. Each team will only play the teams they did not face in the first round. Thus, Egypt will only face Tunisia, Cameroon, and Chad in the second round.

To qualify to the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, Egypt will either need to finish in the top two spots in Group E or finish as the best third placed team.

Final round schedule for Egypt:

September 14: vs Chad

September 15: vs Tunisia

September 16: vs Cameroon

November 30: vs Chad

December 1: vs Tunisia

December 2: vs Cameroon
