Al Ahly agree to sell Walid Azaro, demand €10 million
Al Ahly have announced they have agreed to let Moroccan forward Walid Azaro join the Chinese Super League, but demand €10 million for the player.
Azaro joined the Red Devils last summer for Morocco’s Difaa El Jadida, scoring 26 goals and assisting further six as he helped Al Ahly win the league title as well as the Egypt Super Cup.
His impressive performances have resulted in Chinese Super League outfit Hebei China Fortune gaining interest in signing the striker.
The Chinese side offered €8 million for the forward, before submitting an improved €9.5 million bid, but both bids were rejected by Al Ahly.
This led to the player protesting and missing his side’s friendly against El-Shams on Saturday, which forced the club to agree on selling him, but only if they receive €10 million.
If successful, this will become a record sale for the Cairo giants and the Egyptian Premier League, beating Malick Evouna’s $8 million move to Chinese outfit Tianjin Teda in 2016.
Walid Azaro was named as the Egyptian Premier League top scorer last season after scoring 18 goals as Al Ahly cruised to the league title. He was also voted the club’s Player of the season by the Reds’ fans.
