HANDBALL: Egypt lose opener against Spain in Women’s Junior World Championship
Egypt were drawn in the world championship’s Group D in a stiff group alongside Croatia, Spain, France, Germany and Sweden.
The 2017 CAHB African Women’s Junior runners-up faced a complicated game despite keeping in touch for the first seven minutes when the result was 3-3, but the European side powered ahead with their attack and defense. 11 goals 18-7 was the difference at half-time after Spain had made it a double-figure lead in the 28th.
The Egypt team entered the game with the intention to reduce the points gap but the physical aspect played a role in the drop of the team’s performance leaving the opportunity to Spain to increase their goal tally and ending the tie with a 19-goal loss in the end (39-20), although coach Nasser Ali Abdel-Wahid will be happy his side managed to score 20 against a strong defense.
