Smouha release Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Okrah - Report

Ghanaian midfielder has mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Egyptian side Smouha, according to reports.

The 24-year-old joined Smouha last January from Sudanese side Al Hilal, scoring only once in nine games in the Egyptian Premier League as the Alexandrian side finished fifth.

Introducing himself with a debut goal against ENPPI, Smouha thought they have got a gem on their hands, however, Okrah couldn’t live up to the hype and failed to register any further goals or assists.

And according to, Okrah has left Smouha only six months after joining them, and the player is yet to make a decision on his future.

“Okrah has left Smouha and the decision was a mutual one. Things weren’t going as planned for him so he asked them to allow him to move on and they accepted,” a source close to the player told Goal.

“He believes it was the best decision he can take to help his career and is now on the lookout for a new challenge.

“There have been several interests but he is weighing the options in order to make a good choice before the season kicks off.

“Okrah enjoys playing regularly and he is hoping to join a club that suits his style. Also, he wants a club with a little consistency in how coaches are hired and fired since situations like that have previously affected him,” the source added.

Smouha have already made a number of signings this summer, most notably Benson Shilongo, Derrick Nsibambi, and Amir Abed.

They will hope to return to the African competitions after missing out the last two seasons. Smouha finished fifth last season, 10 points behind fourth-placed Zamalek.
