HANDBALL: Egypt eliminated from Women’s Junior World Championship
Egypt have been eliminated from the Women’s Junior World Championship following a humiliating loss to Germany in the fourth round of the group stages.
The Pharaohs were drawn in the world championship’s Group D alongside Croatia, Spain, France, Germany, and Sweden, with the top four qualifying for the quarter-finals.
The Germans didn’t have any problems against Egypt, ending the first-half with a scoreline of 26-7, before securing their second win of the tournament in the second-half, winning the game 51-10.
The result leaves Egypt bottom of the group with zero points, four behind fourth-placed Sweden with only one game to go. Although the Pharaohs were eliminated from the group stage, they will still play in the 21-23rd place classification matches.
The tournament takes place in Debrecen, Hungary from 1 to 14 July, and this participation is the second in Egypt’s history after they finished 20th in 2016.
