Al Ahly midfielder Amr El-Sulaya discusses the club’s current preparations in their pre-season training camp in Croatia and the Reds’ upcoming clash against Township Rollers FC in the CAF Champions League.

The central midfielder assured the fans that all the players are giving their upmost potential and training as hard as they to win more titles next season.

“Every player is focusing in training and carry out the coach’s instructions in the field precisely. The competition is very high as there many players who play in the midfield such as Hossam Ashour, Hesham Mohamed, Karim Nedved, Ahmed Hamdy and Akram Tawfik. However, any chosen player will give everything and perform the same way as every other player,” said El-Sulaya.

He added, “The coaching staff knows every little detail about the team, and is aware of all the players’ qualities. Therefore, they are very qualified to lead the team with the way they think is the best, either defensively or offensively, and by developing the team’s performance.”

“The coaching staff mainly focuses on commitment inside and outside the field, because there aren’t any successful teams without commitment and carrying out the orders. The team’s spirit and not paying attention to any external factors that could drift the team’s attention away are very important especially for the upcoming period.” stated El-Sulaya.

On the club’s chances in the CAF Champions League, the Reds’ midfielder said, “We are in a tough situation, but it is not impossible. We don’t have any other choices besides winning our next two matches against Township Rollers to keep our chances alive.”

“Winning the Champions League has always been our goal and participating in the club world cup has been always a dream,” he added.

On the club signing new players, El-Sulaya stated, “Al Ahly always signs the best players in all positions who have the best qualities; yet, the decision is always up to the coaching staff.”

When asked about whether it was unfair for him to be called by the Egyptian national team before the World Cup, El-Sulaya stated that he gives his everything in the field and has been always waiting for the chance to join the Pharaohs; however, this was the coaching staff’s decision and it has to be respected.

The 29-year-old said that the team performed very well in the first match against Uruguay, but they were unlucky in the two other matches, due to lack of experience of the players, which negatively affected the performance, in general. Experience is vital inn these kind of confrontations.

“I Hope the team will get over this World Cup, and come back in the 2022 World Cup, and provide a better performance and bring happiness of the Egyptian people.”
