His performances earned him a spot in Egypt’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but he failed to make an appearance during the tournament.

The 32-year-old had already stated that he didn’t want to return to Zamalek this season after the end of his loan spell with Al Reed.

Shikabala will replace Ibrahim Hassan after the latter moved to Zamalek this summer. Ismaily have also lost Diego Calderon, Mohamed Fathy, and Mohamed Awad.

The Ismailia-based club will take part in the CAF Champions League next season after finishing in second place in the league.
