OFFICIAL: Ahmed Tawfik joins Pyramids FC from Zamalek

Zamalek midfielder has agreed to join Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC, the latter have announced on Sunday.

The 26-year-old was set to leave the White Knights after falling down the pecking order last season, in which he featured in only nine games across all competitions.

Zamalek’s president, Mortada Mansour, has also stated that the club will be willing to sell the midfielder, claiming he has received an official offer from to sign Tawfik for 15 million EGP.

And today Tawfik has been confirmed as Pyramids’ latest signing, however, the cost of the deal and contract terms were not revealed by both clubs’ officials.

Tawfik, who is a product of Zamalek’s youth team, was promoted to the first team in 2013, making over 150 appearances for the Whites.

During his time at the White Castle, he helped the team win the league title in 2015, four Egypt Cups, and one Egypt Super Cup. He was also part of the team that reached the CAF Champions League final in 2016.

He won two caps for Egypt, with his last international appearance coming against Chad in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers in June 2015.

Pyramids FC were recently acquired by chairman of Saudi Sports Authority Turki Al-Sheikh. Since the acquisition, the club announced the signing of a number of players including Mohamed Farouk from Arab Contractors, Brazilian duo Lucas RibamarMarcos da Silva França ‘Keno’ and Syria international defender Omar Midani.

The club has also named Brazilian manager Alberto Valentim as the new head coach and is still expected to complete several signings in the upcoming months.
