OFFICIAL: Pyramids FC sign Egypt international Ali Gabr
A mere four hours after signing Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Tawfik, the newly branded club signed defender Ali Gabr. Gabr had been linked with the club previously with Zamalek president Mortada Mansour going as far as confirming the deal two weeks ago.
However, amid the National Team’s performance at the World Cup, the rumors cooled down until Pyramids announced the signing early Monday morning. Gabr played in all three games in Russia, alongside Ahmed Hegazy.
Ali Gabr joined the White Knights in the 2014 summer transfer window and featured in more than 130 matches including 99 games in the league. He also was a vital part in winning two Egypt Cup titles, one Egypt Super Cup title, and one Egyptian Premier League title with Zamalek.
Before joining Pyramids, the 29-year-old spent six months on loan at WBA, but failed to make any appearance for the first team. As a result, WBA did not activate his buyout clause after his failure to make a positive impression on the club.
Pyramids have completed many signings going into the new season, where they will face Al Ahly and Zamalek in back-to-back games in the league as determined on Sunday, including Brazilian duo Lucas Ribamar, Marcos da Silva França ‘Keno’ and Mohamed Farouk from Arab Contractors.
