Salif Coulibaly joins Al Ahly from TP Mazembe


Malian defender has joined Cairo giants Al Ahly from on a free transfer, the Red Castle announced on Monday.

The 30-year-old joins the Red Devils on a two-year deal after his contract expired at the Congolese side. He previously helped TP Mazembe win the 2014/15 CAF Champions League title.

He played at Mazembe under the leadership of current Al Ahly manager Patrice Carteron, who took over at the Red Castle in June. Carteron was also the manager of the Mali national team between July 2012 and May 2013.

He becomes Al Ahly’s second signing during the summer transfer window after they acquired the services of Dakhleya defender Ahmed Alaa.

Al Ahly already have four foreign players namely Ali Maaloul, Walid Azaro, Junior Ajayi and Phakamani Mahlambi.

The Red Devils are now preparing for their game against Township Rollers in matchday 3 of the CAF Champions League group stage on July 17.
