Achraf Hakimi joins Borussia Dortmund on two-year loan
The 19-year-old is a product of Real’s youth system and made his debut for the first team last season against Espanyol under Zinedine Zidane.
Overall he made 17 appearances for the Real Madrid, scoring two goals and registering one assist, but the Spanish club preferred to loan him after the arrival of Álvaro Odriozola from Real Sociedad.
“Achraf Hakimi is a young, very dynamic full-back who has played at the highest level at Real Madrid and in the Moroccan national team,” BVB Sporting Director Michael Zorc said.
Hakimi has represented the Moroccan national team 13 times, scoring his only international goal against Mali in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
He was part of the team that travelled to Russia for the World Cup, playing every minute of Morocco’s World Cup campaign.
Achraf becomes Dortmund’s sixth summer signing after deals for Thomas Delaney, Abdou Diallo, Marius Wolf, Marwin Hitz, and Eric Oelschlägel.
The eight-time Bundesliga champions wanted to strengthen their squad after a disappointing campaign which saw them finish fourth in the league and leave the Champions League from the group-stages.
