Ali Gabr reveals he never wanted to leave Zamalek

has revealed that he did not want to leave Zamalek while also bidding farewell to the White Castle as heads to .

Ali Gabr had spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, but he hasn’t featured for the first team during his spell with the Baggies.

The 29-year-old has played a vital role in Zamalek’s success in the last four years, helping them win two Egypt Cup titles, Egypt Super Cup, and an Egyptian Premier League title.

He moved to the White Castle in 2014 from Ittihad of Alexandria, making 130 appearances for the club and scoring four goals.

“I spent four years at Zamalek and they were the best in my career. I am proud that I was part of this amazing team that was able to restore glory back to this club,” Gabr said in a statement he posted on Instagram.

“During the time I played at Zamalek, I was always a fan of this club before being a player and that has helped me win four titles in my time at this club.

“I have worked so hard and always did my best for the team and that has helped me get 26 international caps and I thank Zamalek for that.

“I didn’t want to leave Zamalek. If I was looking for more money, I would have left in no time and it wouldn’t be taking this long.

“I was surprised that I was relieved of my duties as a Zamalek player when I was in Russia. This confirmed that I was no longer wanted at the club.

“There are more details that I will announce soon when the right time comes. I would like to thank all Zamalek fans that have supported me and I wish the club all the best in the future,” he added.

Gabr has also commented on his move to Pyramids FC, saying: “I announce my move to Pyramids FC and I thank their representatives for their professionalism in the negotiations.

“I also thank them for their faith and belief in me that I’ll add something to their first team. That’s what I was looking for.

“I hope I can live up to their expectations and help them win titles in the future,” he concluded
