OFFICIAL: Brighton sign Mali international Yves Bissouma
The 21-year-deal has joined from French side LOSC Lille for a fee around £15m, becoming the club’s sixth summer signing.
Bissouma spent two years at Lille after joining from Malian side AS Real Bamako in 2016. He made 47 appearances for the French side, scoring four goals and registering two assists.
“I chatted with quite a lot of people who advised me it’s a good league for my progression, and it’s good to join a club like Brighton who know what they want, an ambitious club,” Bissouma told the club website.
“It’s the dream of every player to come and play in the Premier League. They said it’s different to Ligue 1 – but you see that on the TV.
“I wanted to come and show what I can do in the Premier League and help the team move forward,” he added.
The club have already announced the signings of goalkeepers Jason Steel and David Button, defenders Bernardo and Leon Balogun and striker Florin Andone.
Yves Bissouma has been capped by his country 13 times, scoring three international goals, and has represented Mali at the 2017 AFCON.
