Egypt women team have secured a 4-0 victory against in the Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup, taking place in Chicago.

The Unified Cup is an international football competition taking place for the first time in Chicago from 17-21 July as part of the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics celebrations.

The Pharaohs qualified for the tournament after winning the Special Olympics Female Unified MENA’s Regional Cup last January, and were drawn alongside India, South Korea, and Mexico.

They started their campaign with a dominating 4-0 win over South Korea, thanks to Aliaa El-Zenouki and Merna Mohsen who scored two goals each.

The victory has put Egypt on top of group B with three points, two more than Mexico and India, who drew with each other in their opening game.

Egypt’s next game will be against India on Wednesday and a win will be enough for the Pharaohs to secure a place in the semi-finals.
