The women team have won their last game of the group stages of the Unified Cup as they beat Mexico 5-1 and will face in the semi-finals.

The Unified Cup is an international football competition taking place for the first time in Chicago from 17-21 July as part of the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics celebrations.

The Pharaohs qualified for the tournament after winning the Special Olympics Female Unified MENA’s Regional Cup last January, and were drawn alongside India, South Korea, and Mexico.

The Egypt women team were able to top their group after beating South Korea 4-0 in their opening game, before defeating India 3-0, which guaranteed their qualification for the next round.

They have managed to continue their winning start, beating Mexico 5-1 on Thursday, thanks to Aliaa Shoukry and Menna Tarek’s braces and a goal from Merna Mohsen.

Egypt will face Brazil in the semi-finals on Friday, July 20, with the final taking place on Saturday.
