Basketball: Assem Marei joins Turkish side Pinar Karsiyaka
Egyptian basketball player Assem Marei will be starting a new quest in Turkey after he officially joined Pinar Karsiyaka for two seasons.
Marei, who started his career at Zamalek, moved to Pinar Karsiyaka coming from German club Medi Bayreuth, which he joined in June 2016 after spending one season with Lithuania’s BC Šiauliai.
Last season, Marei was able to play 45 games with Medi Bayreuth and had an average of 19.6 minutes. He reached an average of 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
The player led Medi Bayreuth to fourth position in the league last season for the first time in the club’s history.
When he was in Lithuania, Marei got 261 rebounds in the 2015/16 season and became the rebound leader of the Lithuanian League.
The Turkish side, who were in the tenth position in the league last season, welcomed the Marei on their official Twitter account wishing him a successful season.
