Egyptian Football Association ‘EFA’ announced the new suggested dates for the matches which will be between the league and cup winners in the two countries.

The competition hasn’t been organized since 2003, but both the Saudi and Egyptian federation of football decided to bring the tournament back during an Arab Football Association meeting last November.

However, the Saudi Football Federation and their Egyptian counterparts recently said that they failed to agree on the matches’ dates and will cancel the tournament, before the general secretary of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation revealed that the tournament will take place on different dates.

“The suggested dates for the Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup are November 6 for the cup winners game between Zamalek and Ittihad which will take place in Cairo and November 8 for the league winners game between Al Ahly and Al Hilal in Riyadh,” the EFA said in an official statement.

EFA board member Ahmed Megahed said before in radio comments that it will be hard to bring the tournament back this year due to the fact that the teams will be committed to the Arab Championship and the African Champions League.

It is also worth mentioning that the 2018 CAF Champions League final match will be on November 9, which is one day after Al Ahly’s suggested match date with Al Hilal.

The last time a Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup was held was in 2001 and 2003. Zamalek were the first Egyptian team to win this tournament back in 2003, where they beat Al Ittihad in a penalty shootout.
